According to the doctor, giloy like other Ayurvedic herbs can provide relief in diseases like viral fever, stomach ache or indigestion, cough, cold, dengue and typhoid along with strengthening the immune system.

Goodness of Giloy

Giloy is a natural anti-inflammatory, anti-biotic, anti-aging, anti-oxidants, anti-viral, anti-diabetic and anti-cancer medicine. It can be consumed anytime and has no apparent side effects. However, it should be consumed under the guidance of a doctor. Giloy should not be consumed during pregnancy.

Boil Giloy in water and drink

As per doctor’s advice, soak fresh leaves and twigs of Giloy overnight, boil it in a glass of water until half, strain and drink it in the morning. You can also add basil leaves, turmeric and cloves while making the decoction.

Benefits of Giloy in Ayurveda

For Diabetics: Dry form of Giloy, i.e. katha is also available, soak 1 part (10 gm) of katha in 400 ml water overnight. In the morning, boil it to 100 ml and strain and drink it. You can also add jaggery to it for taste.

Giloy Powder and Pills: Giloy powder is also available in the market. You can take 1 teaspoon with warm water and honey in the morning on an empty stomach. Its tablets are also available in the name of Giloy, Gaduchi Ghanvati, Samshamani vati which you can take twice a day before meals.
